BJJ vs. MMA: How to Choose a First Class
BJJ centers on grappling; MMA brings striking and grappling together. If you're choosing a first class, start with the skills you want to learn, then check which listed time and class fit you.

Jiu-jitsu is a grappling art. No-Gi removes the traditional gi and its cloth grips. MMA combines striking and grappling as separate skill areas. NAGA explains the No-Gi distinction; the Association of Boxing Commissions' MMA rules show the sport's striking and grappling sides. Competition rules do not define Kaizen MMA's class format.
Choose BJJ or MMA by the Skills You Want to Practice
If positions and control catch your interest, look first at No-Gi. If you want to explore how striking and grappling connect, look at MMA. Neither choice needs to be permanent, and the right first visit depends on the class itself.

Our adult schedule lists No-Gi Jiu Jitsu Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and MMA Monday evening and Wednesday at noon. We do not list a separate gi class. Ask us about first-visit fit if you're deciding between the two.
